Hebrews 11:1-10 NKJ
By Faith We Understand
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.
3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

Faith at the Dawn of History

4 By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.
5 By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death,
“and was not found, because God had taken him”;[a] for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
7 By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

Faithful Abraham
8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. 9 By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; 10 for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
  2 Corinthians 10:3 -6 NKJ
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

Spiritual warfare is a fight of faith. It can only be won by faith. It is not like the physical wars of this World.

DEPENDENCE.

·        Spiritual warfare does not depend on strong arms;

·        It does not depend on the quick eye or the swift foot of the soldier;

·        It is not waged with carnal weapons but with spiritual – by faith. Success depends entirely on believing.

FOUNDATION OF A GOOD SOLDIER

1.   TRUTHFULNESS OF THE BIBLE
You must believe in the bible and that the bible is the word of God (read 2 Timothy 3:16). You must know that your arms depot is in the bible.

2.   EXISTENCE OF GOD
You must believe that GOD IS and that HE is the rewarder of them that diligently seek after HIM (Hebrews 11:6).

3.   ACCEPT JESUS AS LORD AND SAVIOUR
You must believe in our Lord Jesus and accept Him as LORD AND SAVIOUR. You must believe in His person, works and office. Jesus Christ is the second person in the God-Head.

4.   HOLY SPIRIT
Believe in Holy Spirit as the third person in the God’s Head.
You must believe that the era we are in, is the dispensation of the Holy Spirit; that God the Father and God the Son works through the Holy Spirit to accomplish tasks and purposes on earth.

FAITH: What is it?

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it, the elders obtained good reports” (Hebrews 11:1-2). Beloved, faith is the nature of God. It is the reality of God’s word. Faith is the practical application of God’s words to our situations and circumstances. Faith is walking with God into the battlefield. It is seeing victory far ahead and the battle won even before a gun shoot. It is moving into battle with God and seeing the manifestation of victory in spiritual warfare before the war is fought.
It is God thinking and speaking through you, by the power of Holy Spirit. It is God leading the way and you following from behind.

HOW DOES A GOOD SOLDIER SEE HIS MASTER JESUS CHRIST—THE BEST OF GENERALS.

Image (c) google images

1.   You see Him by faith as the leader and commander of troops (He is the LORD of Hosts – heaven’s army).
2.   You see Him as the captain of your salvation that never fails. He will always lead His soldiers to victory.
3.   You see Him as the Best of generals that offers the best of help (Psalm 121).
4.   See Jesus as the mighty man in war and cast your whole weight on Him.
5.   See Jesus as a mighty saviour whose blood becomes your weapon of warfare.
6.   See Jesus as a mighty saviour whose death on the cross turns out to be the victory of your warfare.

These are some of the things that make a good soldier to trudge on; to move on unwavering in the battle fronts. To close in on the enemy, determine never to be tired nor give up. These are the things that make a good soldier to remain resolute and continue the battle and allow the war to go on because victory is in sight.

Therefore beloved, arise and fight on. Step up the tempo. There should be no retreat, no surrender. Though there are giants among their contingents we should not be intimidated by their height and stature. Though there are strongmen commanding and leading their garrisons, we should not be overwhelmed at all.

Rest assured that victory is on our side, for the Captain of our salvation, Jesus Christ is leading the war. Again, hearken to the divine instruction; there should be no retreat, no surrender. The enemy must surrender to us.

On the other hand we must not make little wars neither should we underrate the enemy. I had alerted earlier that there are giants and strongmen among them. Let us also note that in their midst is Jobab (error of judgement, gaffe, stupid mistake) who is a satanic strategist in charge of mistake and error. Let us not fall into their dragnet of mistakes and error and not make the mistake of underrating them. In time of war, this is the worst mistake you can make against your opponent.

Finally, I want you to know that it is the warfare of your soul we are talking about, it is the deliverance of your spirit, soul and body that is in contention. I want you to know that it is the deliverance of your cities, your towns, your environment and neighbourhood and your promise land that is involved. Beloved this is not a light matter, let us “fight the good fight of the faith; and lay hold on eternal life (1 Timothy 6:12).

God bless.
