Divine Laughter

Genesis 18: 9-14 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
Then they (angels) said to him, “Where is Sarah your wife?” And he said, “There, in the tent.” 1He said, “I will surely return to you at this time next year; and behold, Sarah your wife will have a son.” And Sarah was listening at the tent door, which was behind him. 11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old, advanced in age; Sarah was past childbearing. 12 Sarah laughed to herself, saying, “After I have become old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?” 13 And the LORD said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Shall I indeed bear a child, when I am so old?’ 14 Is anything too difficult for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, at this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”

Beloved divine laughter does not come easy. Sarah was laughed to scorn but eventually the promise child, Isaac, came. Isaac found favour with God in all things and became the inheritor of the new covenant.

Genesis 17:15 -17 King James Version (KJV)
15And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her. Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? And shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?

Hannah was derided by her mate (Elkanah’s second wife, Peninnah).

1 Samuel 1:6-7 AMP
This embarrassed and grieved Hannah] and her rival provoked her greatly to vex her, because the Lord had left her childless. So it was year after year; whenever Hannah went up to the Lord's house, Peninnah provoked her, so she wept and did not eat.

But eventually that special child, Samuel, came. He rose to become a prophet and a Judge in Israel.

1 Samuel 1:19-20 AMP
The family rose early the next morning, worshiped before the Lord, and returned to their home in Ramah. Elkanah knew Hannah his wife, and the Lord remembered her. Hannah became pregnant and in due time bore a son and named him Samuel [heard of God], Because, she said, I have asked him of the Lord.

Elizabeth was called barren but eventually that womb brought forth the fore-runner of our Lord Jesus Christ, John the Baptist. A fiery preacher of righteousness and a non-compromiser of the word!

Beloved I see something special coming your way. God is putting divine laughter in your mouth. I see you laughing LAST. Your enemy may be laughing you to scorn now but it is not going to be the last laugh. You will last laugh! Persevere!
