If My People Pray

Pastor Joe Wright

This is a prayer that Pastor Joe Wright prayed when He was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate. This prayer has elicited very strong reactions from everyone who has heard it. I believe it was inspired by the very heart of God. If you look at the spirit behind the prayer it is basically 2 Chronicles 7:14 -15 which says:

“If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer offered in this place.”

Before you read this prayer I would like to ask you to stand in the gap for your land wherever you are, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Russia, the Americas, Europe, the Poles and Australia. Pray for your nation according to 2 Chronicles,7:14 -15 AMP

"Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance.  We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done...
We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.
We confess that we have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and call it Pluralism. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.

We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice.

We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem.

We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbour’s possessions and called it ambition.

We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.

We have ridiculed the time-honoured values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.

Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. [Selah – pause and think]

Amen!"
Beloved, it took guts for Pastor Joe Write to pray that prayer before the Senate and possibly the media. Ask God for boldness to always be an advocate of His truth even when it is not the politically correct thing to do.
