Living as Children of Light

The word of God is a lamp for your feet

As children of God living in this present darkness we need to consciously stay alert and not allow ourselves to be over taken by its darkness. As part of our walk in Christ we need to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. We need to submit ourselves daily to the lordship of the Holy Spirit. The bible tells us he is our counsellor, our guide, the one who empowers us to live this life in Christ. He is the path maker for every believer. It is therefore that we do what we can to yield to Him and His leading. What does the bible tell us to do then?

Ephesians 4: 30 - 31
30 And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as His own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.
31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behaviour.

Child of God, few realise the wisdom and power of the above verses. The crux of the word is to forgive. God even talks about how you will be forgiven with the measure you forgive others. Unforgiveness, brings a hardness of heart which proves to be a great stumbling block for any believer. Equally you cannot allow yourself to be ruled by the spirit of anger, unchecked anger develops into a cancer that develops into a root of bitterness. This root of bitterness then becomes a stronghold in an unrepentant heart.

Guess what child of God? We all need forgiveness. So do the right thing. Unforgiveness become a trap set up by satan to entrap you.  So instead do as

Ephesians 5:32 says,
32 Instead, be kind to each other, tender hearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
Let the Love of God rule your heart.

Ephesians 5:1-2
Imitate God, therefore in everything you do, because you are His dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.

Ephesians 5:10,15
10 Carefully determine what pleases the Lord. Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead expose them.15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools but like those who are wise. Make the Most of every opportunity in these evil days. Do not act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do….18b Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

THE HEAVENS declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows and proclaims His handiwork.
2Day after day pours forth speech, and night after night shows forth knowledge.
3There is no speech nor spoken word [from the stars]; their voice is not heard.
4Yet their voice [in evidence] goes out through all the earth, their sayings to the end of the world. Of the heavens has God made a tent for the sun,
5Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber; and it rejoices as a strong man to run his course.
6Its going forth is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the ends of it; and nothing [yes, no one] is hidden from the heat of it.
7The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the [whole] person; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
8The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure and bright, enlightening the eyes.
9The [reverent] fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
10More to be desired are they than gold, even than much fine gold; they are sweeter also than honey and drippings from the honeycomb.
11Moreover, by them is Your servant warned (reminded, illuminated, and instructed); and in keeping them there is great reward.
12Who can discern his lapses and errors? Clear me from hidden [and unconscious] faults.
13Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then shall I be blameless, and I shall be innocent and clear of great transgression.
14Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my [firm, impenetrable] Rock and my Redeemer.

Bless you.
