Be a friend of God

Read: Gen 18

16The men rose up from there and faced toward Sodom, and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way.

17And the Lord said, Shall I hide from Abraham [My friend and servant] what I am going to do,(D)

18Since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed through him and shall bless themselves by him?(E)

19For I have known (chosen, acknowledged) him [as My own], so that he may teach and command his children and the sons of his house after him to keep the way of the Lord and to do what is just and righteous, so that the Lord may bring Abraham what He has promised him.

20And the Lord said, Because the shriek [of the sins] of Sodom and Gomorrah is great and their sin is exceedingly grievous,

21I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether [as vilely and wickedly] as is the cry of it which has come to Me; and if not, I will know.

When God wanted to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, He informed Abraham about it. No other man on Earth at that time knew about it. Abraham prayed to God to save the two cities. But eventually his prayers could not save the two cities; God went ahead and destroyed them because of the level of wickedness there.

The crucial question that requires the attention of every child of God is, why did God inform Abraham before He carried out His plan?

It is because God regarded Abraham as His friend. It is because Abraham was obeying God’s command in all respects. It is because Abraham was serving and worshiping God with all his heart. It is because Abraham was a man of Prayer who depended on God for all his needs. It is because of this trust and FAITH in God that God called Abraham a righteous man.

Galatians 3:8

Amplified Bible (AMP)

8And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify (declare righteous, put in right standing with Himself) the Gentiles in consequence of faith, proclaimed the Gospel [foretelling the glad tidings of a Savior long beforehand] to Abraham in the promise, saying, In you shall all the nations [of the earth] be blessed.(A)

God wants you to be His friend like He was to Abraham. He wants to treat you with confidence and carry you along in His plans and programmes. He wants to be intimate with you. He wants to inform you of all His plans. He wants you, like Abraham to make an input in every one of His plans and programmes. The bible says God does not do anything without first informing his friends and prophets.

Why don’t you be a friend of God? It pays to be His friend.

To be a friend with God you must hand yourself over to His son Jesus Christ wholeheartedly and unconditionally. Start to worship and serve God with your spirit, soul and body. This is the whole essence of the LAW and the only law imperative in this end time. Walk in righteousness and holiness like Abraham did in his walk with God. Entrust all your care and burdens to Him. “He cares for all His friends and prophets.”

God wants you to be His friend, not just His friend alone but heir-apparent with His son and saviour Jesus Christ.
