HE IS LIGHT, HE IS LIFE.

When we say God is light what does it really mean? Let us see what the scriptures say:

In the word there is life. In that Word is light. In Jesus there is LIFE and this life is the light of men. It means that the word of God is the only light that man has and needs. The only thing that can lead you into success. I am talking about divine success which is not borne of corruptible things; it is the word of God.

There is no life outside of Him. Unless we abide in the Word (God) we cannot move or abide in light. His word is the light that shows the way in darkness. Abiding in the light means walking in the way of righteousness and truth; living in God’s standard and template. When we look at the account of creation, we see the following:

Genesis 1:3
And God said, “Let there be light and there was light!”

The first thing God commanded was light. Why is this significant? If it is the first thing He said, it must be very important. What is the underlying message contained in this utterance, what is the implicit meaning? This post will clarify this intent by explaining the nature of God. It is the entrance of the light that paved way for the creation of other things. Light is the epitome of who God is. Without light there would not have been life. Nothing you are seeing today would be existing. They all owe their existence to the exigency of light. The Earth would have been inhabitable, a place of death and horror without light. The bible tells us after this command He separated the light from the darkness, thereby making them two parallel lines that will never meet. Why? It is because darkness and light represent two different things. Light signifies truth which the bible tells us is Jesus Christ, the Messiah (John1:6-9). Light is love which the scripture says is God and His character (1 John 4:16). It indicates Holiness and righteousness which depicts purity, brightness and subtle nature of the Most High God. (Lev 11:44-45, 1 Peter 1:16). It also personifies eternal life and salvation (1John1:5, John 3:16-17), and hope (Ezra 10:2) and glory (Rev 21:23-26). Darkness on the other hand represents death, sin, evil, envy, hatred, falsehood, ignorance, hostility, witchcraft, wickedness, etc (Gal 5:19).

1John1:5 AMP
5And this is the message [the message of promise] which we have heard from Him and now are reporting to you: God is Light, and there is no darkness in Him at all [no, not in any way].

The Word of God is Light means that God is light. Once light appears darkness disappears. Wherever God is darkness has no place there. God is perfect and complete. Let us look at the nature of God in reference to light. When the scripture says He is LIGHT, it refers to the fact that God is holy, pure and righteous. He dazzles in whiteness and glory, there is no variableness neither is there any shadow of turning in Him. His manifestation and appearance is in light. He symbolizes light in all respects. A glimpse of how God first introduced Himself to Moses shows us His LIGHT nature can also manifest as FIRE.

1NOW MOSES kept the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian; and he led the flock to the back or west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb or Sinai, the mountain of God. 2The Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush burned with fire, yet was not consumed. 3And Moses said, I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush is not burned. 4And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the midst of the bush and said, Moses, Moses! And he said, Here am I.5God said, Do not come near; put your shoes off your feet, for the place on which you stand is holy ground. 6Also He said, I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God (Exodus 13:21-22).

When He redeemed the children of Israel from bondage and slavery in the land of Egypt, He was leading them to the promised land with His protective presence, the pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night.
21The Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. 22The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night did not depart from before the people (Exodus 13:21-22).
