The witch of Endor is the last resort of the enemy; the last kick of a dying horse. What do I mean when I say that the witchcraft of Endor is the last resort of the enemy? I actually mean that there are various kinds of witchcraft. But the witchcraft of Endor is the style of witchcraft practised by most witch doctors or what is called in the western World voodoo. Witchcraft is widely practiced and has been given official recognition by some governments of the World where witchdoctors are being classified as “alternative medicine practitioners”.
Most witch doctors have cauldrons that they use to invoke spirits. These take different forms depending on which part of the world they are practicing. For instance in some parts of Africa they use clay pots or a gutted calabash. The principle is the same, when they get initiated they are given tools which they guard carefully to connect them and their victims to the darkness. Their modus operandi is to either invoke spirits/demons or the spirit of the victim they want to harm or destroy. When they invoke demons they ask them to go and carry out specific tasks of wickedness/curses. They do also create effigies of their victims and perform rituals on them; i.e. they tie the effigy with string to bind their victims, etc. But at the heart of their rituals is ‘words’. They say incantations and make proclamations as part of their witchcrafts.
The enemy usually resorts to such witchcraft after they have tried all other options and means to stop you. When that happens it implies that you are on the winning side. It means that God is with you and behind you because consultation with the witchcraft of Endor or with a witch doctor will also fail them. The Lord has already declared that you are victorious.
People may ask or question why I have turned my searchlight on the witch of Endor? It is because I am a deliverance Pastor and one of my mandates is to use the power and wisdom in the Word of God, the name and blood of Jesus to set the captive free and expose the activities of the kingdom of darkness like my Lord and personal Saviour Jesus Christ did. Having said that, let us now turn our attention to this message and see how it will benefit us. Saul the king of Israel was faced with a difficult problem.
1Samuel 28:
1IN THOSE days the Philistines gathered their forces for war against Israel. .... 4And the Philistines assembled and came and encamped at Shunem; and Saul gathered all Israel and they encamped at Gilboa.5When Saul saw the Philistine host, he was afraid; his heart trembled greatly.
The whole contingent of Philistine lords had assembled all their armies against Israel for war. He decided to match them force with force. But he knew that Israel did not go to war without first consulting with God to seek His approval.
1Samuel 28:
3Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had mourned for him and buried him in Ramah, his own city. And Saul had put the mediums and the wizards out of the land.
He knew he had two options; look for a genuine man of God or an agent of the kingdom of darkness. Since the Prophet Samuel, the holy man of God was dead and Saul had chased away the mediums and the spiritists out of the land; He was in a serious dilemma on what to do. Nevertheless, he decided to try something.
1Samuel 28:
6When Saul inquired of the Lord, He refused to answer him, either by dreams or by Urim [a symbol worn by the priest when seeking the will of God for Israel] or by the prophets.
Then out of desperation he decided to do the unthinkable for a child of God. Saul became terrified when he saw the enemy gathering against him. When God remained silent towards him Saul resorted to consulting a spiritist. Let us look at how the bible presents the picture of what transpired.
1Samuel 28:
7Then Saul said to his servants, “Find me a woman who is a medium [between the living and the dead], that I may go and inquire of her.” His servants said, “Behold, there is a woman who is a medium at Endor.” 8So Saul disguised himself, put on other raiment, and he and two men with him went and came to the woman at night. He said to her, Perceive for me by the familiar spirit and bring up for me the dead person whom I shall name to you.9The woman said, See here, you know what Saul has done, how he has cut off those who are mediums and wizards out of the land. Why then do you lay a trap for my life to cause my death?
Remember that Saul was a man selected by God to be a king and leader of God’s chosen people, Israel.

1THEN SAMUEL took the vial of oil and poured it on Saul's head and kissed him and said, ‘Has not the Lord anointed you to be prince over His heritage Israel?’
After this incident....

9... when [Saul] had turned his back to leave Samuel, God gave him another heart, 10When they came to the hill [Gibeah], behold, a band of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came mightily upon him, and he spoke under divine inspiration among them.
After being anointed Saul started to enforce the justice and laws of God. He started well by banishing practitioners of witchcraft, mediums and spiritists out of the land. These workers of iniquity were and still are the enemies of God. Can you imagine that the anointed of God will go and consult an agent of the kingdom of darkness? Can you imagine that the anointed of God who banished, and outlawed the activities of the kingdom of darkness in the land would resort back to consulting them? But what made Saul to go and consult a witch thereby licking the spit he spattered on the ground?
Proverbs 26:11
As a dog returns to his vomit, so a fool returns to his folly.
Remember the bible tells us that when Samuel anointed Saul God gave him a new heart. That is why he started destroying sorcerers. But the fact that he went to consult a witch tells me and you that he must have had some prior experience with one. How and why did he equate consulting a witch as a tenable solution if he had no experience of one?
For Saul to have consulted a medium it means that, idols, sorcerers, those having familiar spirits (the mediums) and wizards are demonic tools that have a lesser power from satan but a power none the less. To deny their existence will not change the fact that these people do perform miracles but they are evil and fake miracles that come at a heavy price. That’s what I want you to understand.
You know when we teach this bible some people will stand on the pulpit and try to dismiss them as if they don’t exist. Do not listen to the agents of satan that tell you that satan and such powers do not exist. It is a tactic the darkness uses to deceive people into not standing against their wiles. After all, if satan or practitioners of darkness do not exist there is no need for warfare, the Armour of God and any kind of deliverance through the Power of the Holy Spirit.
Child of God let us remain vigilant and sober for when we are plugged into the Spirit and leadership of God we are protected and powerful. But when believers leave their estate [being seated in Christ Jesus far above all powers, principalities, dominion and the rule of satan] and consult the kingdom of darkness they become reduced to the fate of Saul. It will never be your portion in Jesus name.
