Psalm 105:42
“For He [earnestly]
remembered His holy word and promise to Abraham His servant”.
Humankind can forget, their
power of recall can fail them but not God. Man can suffer memory loss but God
can’t. Time and age may affect man’s ability to remember things but it does not
have any such effect on God. Beloved, God Almighty always remembers HIS
promise. The promise of the LORD God is Holy. It is holy because He cannot
violate His own promise. His promise must surely come to pass He will never,
never, never... lie. Amen!
When God remembered His holy
promise to Abraham, he released the children of Israel from bondage and slavery
in Egypt. He sent forth Moses, the deliverer, to go and demand their release.
He anointed him with power and authority, thus equipping him for the task. He
afflicted the Egyptians with plagues and diseases because they did not agree to
release them. He smote every first born Egyptian and animal before their
eventual release.
“And the ransomed of the
Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing, and everlasting joy, shall be
upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing
shall flee away (Isaiah 35:10)”.
God showed His people
mercies all through the time that led to their rescue. Apart from protecting
them from the plagues and diseases and other judgments He meted out to the
Egyptians, He released them with silver and gold in their kitty. They came out
rich and wealthy. Their bodies and spirits were broken because of
dehumanization and slavery but they were released with honour and dignity. They
were brought out without one person being sick or feeble.
God cares for and protects
His people; even in the time of danger in order to keep His holy promise.
Beloved, whatever promise God made to you He will jealously guard and protect
you in order to bring it to pass. He will care for you in between the time of
bringing His promise to pass in your life. He can never abandon you neither
will He abandon His promise.
God took special care of the
children of Israel in the wilderness. There was a pillar of cloud in the day
and a pillar of fire in the night. The pillar of cloud was a canopy of His protection
and the pillar of fire provided light and warmth in the night and prevented
them from being attacked by the enemies. God opened the rock and water came out
to satisfy and quench their thirst.
Signs of times of the promise of God.
Acts 7:17-19.
“But as the time for the
fulfilment of the promise drew near which God has made to Abraham, the [Hebrew]
people increased and multiplied in Egypt. Until [the time when] there arose
over Egypt another and a different king who did not know Joseph [neither
knowing his history and services nor recognizing his merits]. He dealt
treacherously with and defrauded our race; he abused and oppressed our forefathers,
forcing them to expose their babies so that they might not be kept alive”.
Beloved, we already know
that satan cannot stop the promise of God from coming to pass but I want to let
you know that he does not fold his hands and watch the promise of God come to
pass. He launches attack after attack in a bid to scuttle the promise of God.
He tries one form of trickery or the other in order to ruin the promise of God.
But he will always fail as usual.
When the time of the holy
promise of God draws near, it sometimes becomes a time of suffering. It is also
a time of growth for the children of God. You
will grow in spite of a barrage of attacks being thrown your way by the enemy
of your life and destiny in Jesus name. Amen! Usually it is satan who
instigates this suffering and hardship. Sometimes he stirs up persecution
against the people of God. But God is not unmindful of his antics for He is
always with His people. A period such as this is the time when God’s people
increase in leaps and bounds. Similarly, it is the time when the church of
Jesus Christ on Earth grows.
When persecution started against
the early church, when they were being killed for professing to be followers of
Jesus Christ, God was with them. On one occasion 5000 [Acts 4:4] souls were
converted to the church by Apostle Peter, on another 3000 [Acts 2:41] souls
were won for Christ. The church will continue to grow and grow till the gospel
of our Lord Jesus Christ reaches all the nations of the Earth. The gates of hell
cannot prevail against the church of Jesus Christ. Amen!
When the time for God to
fulfil His holy promise to Abraham came, satan raised another pharaoh in Egypt
who did not recognise the achievements and feats made by Joseph in Egypt and so
he oppressed and depressed the people of God. These extreme hardships were
concocted by satan and his agent Pharaoh in order to delay the promise of God
from coming to pass. Attempts will be made by the enemy to keep you in
perpetual bondage but His [Gods] promised deliverance will, in no doubt, come your
way. The enemy may want to keep you perpetually in debt but God will surely
rescue you out of the debt burden or trap.
It is a
time of the testing of your faith.
Your faith can be stretched to the limit when Gods time of promise draws close.
You are likely to be tested in so many areas of your life to know how steadfast
you are in the Lord. Events and happenings that will shape up your faith in God
will crop up. If you pass this test you are on your way to the Promised land,
on your way to the realization of God’s precious gift that will change your
life and destiny to the best.
